Labels: A Top Hit Fashion Baar & Beards, Inc.

Sylvan M. Baar (1897-1975) and Milton Beards (1906-1987), both of Brooklyn, opened Baar and Beards, Inc., a ladies' neckwear business, in 1941. The "Top Hit" series of scarves (and possibly this shawl), which debuted in 1949, featured designs based on popular songs of the 40s and 50s. Thus, the 45-rpm record in the logo! The photos below show the company's original location at 15 W. 37th Street, in NYC, as it appeared in 1986, and an advertisement from October 1953.
