40s/50s Striped Taffeta Full Skirt

From the late 1940s or early 1950s, a taffeta skirt in bright multicolor stripes on black.

  • boldly colored, bright "ribbon" or "circus" stripes on a black ground was very popular trend in the late 40s and early 50s (the most famous brand was Maxan)
  • crisp and swishy fabric
  • closes at side with two hooks&eyes and a snap (move them to adjust size)
  • single side pocket
  • very full skirt could be worn with multiple crinolines (shown with one, not included)
  • unlined

Labels: Harry Coffee (famous California clothing store), California Classics (brand)

Fiber/Care: no tags, feels like a silk or silk-blend (with rayon) taffeta, dry-clean

Condition: nearly perfect with only the tiniest of flaws (the "worst," shown in the second-to-last photo, is at the waistband, and looks to be wear a brooch had been attached). The pocket shows some color shift, as shown. Doesn't show, of course.
