Beautiful little vintage handbag of unsurpassed quality. Rich black satin with silver-tone hardware. Interior has a single open pocket, and plenty of room for all your essentials, including a smartphone. Authenticated for us by a helpful representative of the Judith Leiber company. She provided the following information:
"Mrs. Leiber produced handbags for the Bonwit Teller department store in Manhattan in the 1960s. This particular bag dates from around 1969. The material is a high-quality and durable satin. In terms of rarity, Mrs. Leiber generally produced her bags on a consignment basis in the early part of her career, so she would have produced these one by one, as they were needed/sold. To purchase a satin handbag from our current line would be between $1,500-$2,200."
For the record, Bonwit Teller is one of our all-time favorite stores. In fact, it is where we got the inspiration for our packaging! They attached sprigs of paper violets to their gift boxes.
