10s/20s Middy Blouse - sm, med

SKU: 00652-009

From the 1910s or early 20s, a middy blouse in sturdy white cotton. This style was all the rage in the early years of the 20th century, particularly among sporty college co-eds. It's meant to be worn for active pursuits, so is loose fitting and comfortable.

  • Three-quarter sleeves
  • Sailor style collar
  • Blouson bodice
  • Defined waist/hip placket with three buttons on either side

Fiber/Care: cotton/washable

Labels: none remain

ConditionOne button is an antique replacement. Two small stains (may lift with targeted treatment) and two teensy tiny spots (may be part of the fabric). The blouse comes from a theater group, which attached something to the center front below the V-neck with a line of glue. It's clear, and is effectively covered by whatever scarf or ribbon you wear around the neck. The low price reflects these flaws, all shown in the final collage image.

We've added a jaunty, patriotic grosgrain ribbon. Just snip the threads if you'd like to swap it for a more traditional scarf, as shown in this informative post by my knowledgeable friend Lizzie.

*This middy blouse has been professionally dry-cleaned.*
