10s Edwardian Tea Dress

SKU: 00702-002
Sorry, this item has sold.

From right around 1910, an Edwardian tea dress.

  • Lace panels, insets, and trims
  • Lavishly embroidered with finely wrought bullion stitching.
  • Bodice is lined in net, skirt is unlined.
  • Closes at back with hooks and eyes and shell buttons at covered placket.

Wear it with a white or cream slip for a traditional look, or a colored slip to show off the incredible details. From my personal collection.

Labels: none

Fiber/Care: finest cotton lawn/batiste (feels like silk and may be a silk blend), cotton embroidery thread / gently hand wash, lay flat to dry (don't hang), gentle steam (we'd avoid ironing to avoid damaging the embroidery)

Condition: the bodice, sleeves, and skirt front have only a few teensy pinprick holes. the back of the skirt shows more damage (could be patched but will not show with same-color undergarment worn beneath). there's a tear under one arm (doesn't show). no stains, but age-related yellowing, which should lighten considerably or completely with cleaning. it could also be (carefully) dyed any shade you choose. given its age and delicacy, this dress should be worn and handled with care.

Garment Measurements:
 shoulders: ~15"/38cm
 sleeves: ~18"/45.5cm
bodice: 16"/40.5cm to center of band
 bust: 36"/91.5cm
 waist: 26"/66cm
hips at 9" below waist: 50"/127cm+
 length: 58"/147.25cm

(This dress fits me and I measure ~36/27/38, but I'm not big on breathing room or comfort, so check measurements carefully.)

Our items are not newly manufactured "vintage style" pieces. They are true vintage, at least 30 years old. Please read condition report provided above.
