Sorry, this item has sold.

Late 1960s or earliest 1970s minidress in light-as-air cotton gauze by famed Greenwich Village designer Kristina Gorby. Acquired by us from the original owner, a family friend who tells us she bought the dress at Gorby's beloved St. Marks Place shop in New York City.

  • Purple paisleys and flower-power daisies on a white ground.
  • Amazing mod angel sleeves extend from elbow to wrist in dramatic points. Underarm gussets.
  • Unlined and semi-sheer but could work fine with nude underthings. The original owner tells us that during her time as a grad student at NYU in NYC, she never bothered with a slip. Sexy!
  • She also reports never wearing the dress belted, but instead wrapping the belt around her head as a headband or as hippie-style head wrap (see "Age of Aquarius" photo).

Labels: Kristina Gorby (read about her history in her obituary, here)

Fiber/Care: cotton gauze, washable (recommend washing separately in a net bag, cool water, gentle detergent, hang or flat dry)

Condition: Looks great, but has a few signs of wear, including discoloration at the underarms, fading on the upper back, and semi-circular stain at front (hidden by belt but still inconspicuous without). The price has been adjusted accordingly. Less fabulous dresses by this collected designer can go for more than $300.

 bust: 36"/91.5cm
approximate natural waist: 37"/94cm (cinch tighter, if desired)
 hips: 50"/127cm
length: 31.25"/79cm with no hem to let down
