40s Does 20s Flapper Dress Costume

Sorry, this item has sold.
This boldly hued dress was a 20s flapper costume back in the 1940s. It features a sleeveless V-neck bodice in silky turquoise blue with an Art Deco tone-on-tone print, a dramatic hip swag and bow in burgundy, and a flippy drop-waist pleated short skirt in even silkier black fabric. Closes with only a hook&eye at the back neck. Unlined. Please read condition report below. From the Sherman estate.

Labels: none - a home sewn flapper costume form the 40s

Fiber/Care: no tags, feels like a very silk rayon or acetate blend, dry-clean

Condition: The skirt and bow are in great shape with no flaws. The bodice is sound, but has significant stains. If you lowered the arm holes to look more authentically 20s, the bulk of the stains would disappear. Add a bit of trim (or a brooch or flower) at the neckline to conceal the rest, and you've got a gorgeous vintage costume (or party dress). We've already had the dress professional dry-cleaned, so remaining stains are likely permanent without some sort of magic.

*This dress is clean and ready to wear.*

Garment Measurements:
- remember that there is only a hook&eye at the neck, so you have to be able to slip this over your head without opening any buttons or zippers -

bust: 40"/101.5cm
natural waist: ~41"/104cm
at hip swag: 39"/99cm
length: 35"/89cm
