Antique Victorian Hat or Small Bonnet
Authentic Victorian hat from the 1870s/80s. Sheer black horsehair (not from actual horses) on a wire frame, with black lace and grosgrain ribbon embellishments. Very long black streamer ties. Dress it up with flowers, a brooch or buckle, or other colorful embellishments to coordinate with your ensemble, exactly as they did back when.
Condition: A few pinholes in the grosgrain, a split in an embellishment showing its wire interior (see photo), and some splits in the lace. Totally wearable. You can leave the streamers long and loose or tie them beneath your chin, loosely. They would have been decorative, and were not used to hold the hat on. You'll need a hatpin or bobby pins to hold it on.
Measurements, taken on underside, see photo collage:
Front to back approximately 9"/22.5cm
Side to side approximately 6.5"/16.5cm
