50s/60s Taupe Straw Veil Hat

High crown sailor style hat with narrow brim, matching veil, and wide velvet ribbon around crown forming a large bow at front.

  • Grosgrain inner band and thick net lining.
  • According to hat expert Barbara of Rue de La Paix Vintage, the glossy material is a novelty braid in a cello straw mix.
  • From the 1950s or early 60s and the Cooper estate.


We believe the box shown to be original to the hat, but we can't be absolutely certain as Mrs. Cooper had many hats and may have swapped boxes. If you want it, we will use it for shipping. Please let us know.

Condition: there are some spots on the velvet ribbon (see photos). there's a small break in the netting under the brim (not visible when worn)

Dimensions: approximately 21" (53cm) inner circumference, 3.75" (9.5cm) high
