RETURN POLICY:
We stand behind our products. In the unlikely event that we miss something major (such as a flaw that affects wearability) or send you the wrong item, then of course we will rectify the situation immediately, at our expense. As a general rule, clothes (not accessories or shoes) from the mid-1960s or prior (as stated in the individual listing) are considered final sale.
Allowing garments to be worn and returned compromises the integrity of the fabric, and necessitates re-laundering prior to relisting. We do not issue refunds because the color, cut, fabric, or pattern was different than expected, or because you changed your mind.
But, we are not unreasonable, and can certainly work something out if you are not thrilled with your purchase. We want happy customers! Just get in touch with us immediately. If the item is returnable, you will be responsible for return shipping costs. The balance, less our initial shipping costs (we can provide receipts) will be refunded.
To avoid disappointment, please take the time to read the item description carefully. Visit our FITTING ROOM so you understand what the numbers mean and can use them to make an informed decision. Know your current measurements or those of a similar item that fits you well. And of course, ask as many questions as you need to before committing to buy.
Remember, if a garment's size is off by just a bit, it can probably be altered to fit perfectly, for a reasonable price, at your local tailor or seamstress. We are happy to recheck measurements, take additional measurements, or check seam allowances for you. Just ask!
Finally, keep in mind that vintage clothes have former lives. Even those described as near-perfect, or with their original tags still attached, are subject to the effects of time. If you are looking for brand new, then vintage clothing is probably not for you. But if you appreciate the incomparable style, quality, and history inherent to vintage, then buy with confidence!

ABOUT OUR PHOTOS:
We strive to present each item precisely as it looks in person. We never conceal flaws or cover imperfections. In fact, we photograph them to help you determine if they are something you can live with.
Garments are clipped to the mannequin or dress form when necessary to show ideal fit. Unless you are 6 feet tall like Lola, or perfectly smooth and armless like Cecilia, clothes will probably fit you a bit differently. Please refer to the garment measurements provided with each item and visit the FITTING ROOM to best judge whether an item is right for you.
HOW WE CLEAN OUR ITEMS:
With rare exceptions, our items come to you freshly laundered, as noted in the item description. Hand washing is done using the mildest cleansers possible. When necessary, age-related stains are removed with Vintage Textile Soak prior to gentle hand washing. Machine washing is done using unscented, dye-free detergent only. All items are line or flat dried (we rarely tumble dry, and then only if specifically recommended by the manufacturer). All dry-cleaning is done professionally at any of several qualified outlets. Very delicate, rare, or highly embellished items are hand dry-cleaned, when feasible, by an established local company experienced in vintage clothing care. All dry-cleaning tags, pins, hangers, paper, and plastic are removed immediately to avoid compromising fabrics. Dry-cleaning receipts are available upon request.
Once in our care, items are stored in a smoke-free, pet-free, climate-controlled environment.
Although we package our items carefully to minimize wrinkling, a quick steaming or ironing may be required.

Better Dresses Vintage ships via USPS. All domestic orders ship free of charge.
We cover the cost to insure all domestic purchases over $50, and all international shipments, for their full value (item price plus shipping). Note that the insurance carrier will require the buyer to complete a claim form prior to reimbursement in case of loss or damage. All packages will be marked as merchandise and all taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
