This obi was purchased a few years ago in Japan by my brother on a business trip. He gave it to my mom (along with a kimono, available here*) as a gift. She never wore or used it, and kept it in her cedar closet.

It's very beautiful and vibrant, embroidered on one side with colorful stylized birds and flowers (chrysanthemums). The background is true red. The embroidery is orange, red, creamy white, light blue, light green, and gold metallic.

Width is 12". Length is 162". It is very long, heavy, and substantial. Just gorgeous.

No flaws to note. It's new and has been carefully stored. Could be worn as intended, with kimono or other ensemble, or repurposed for any number of creative projects.
