Modern reproduction of a Regency-era modesty blouse, meant to fill in the neckline of plunging dresses. This one, from my personal collection, is made of a fine, white tulle.

Feels light as a feather, just lovely.
Three rows of neck ruffles.
Closes at the neck with adjustable cotton tie and at the hem with adjustable slim ribbon.
Chemisette means "little shirt" in French. In addition to being stylish, these were similar in purpose to a modern dickey, adding coverage for occasions where showing too much skin would be inappropriate.
Could, theoretically, be worn with the opening at the back, although that isn't historically accurate and the shoulder seams indicate front opening.

Labels: none - individually hand-made (machine sewn) by an independent seamstress
