From the 1940s, an evening dress in peachy-pink satin with crepe overlay, exuding old-Hollywood glamour:
- Sweetheart neckline, ruched bodice with slimming smooth panels
- Over-elbow, ruched sleeves with gently puffed shoulders
- Scalloped, piped, slightly dropped waist is smooth at front
- Crepe overlay in at center bodice and skirt
- Unlined
- Closes at back with 25 covered buttons and loops
Labels: Blumberg's
(department store in Dothan, Alabama, from 1891-1975)
Fiber/Care: no tags, "cold" rayon satin and crepe / gently washable, then flat dry and steam
Condition: This gown is being sold as is. Flaws (see composite photo) include stains to the overlay at center front, tiny holes here and there, and larger holes near the hem. We've patched with seam allowance (for a perfect match) larger holes and worn areas on the upper part of the dress, and hand-stitched open seams, using silk thread. The underarms are in excellent condition and overall, the dress presents beautifully and is strong and wearable. Based on what I'm seeing online for dresses of this era in far worse (effectively unwearable) condition, this is quite a bargain. Flaws are only visible under bright light, so if you have an evening party or dress-up event (historic or modern), this would work beautifully. If you can sew, or have access to someone who does, and replaced the overlay, it would render the dress nearly perfect.
