Black (or extremely dark brown) crepe dress from 1929 or 1930. Flutter sleeves, back neckline, and split-front peplum have delicate, embroidered, flower-shaped edge. Integral cream dickey and bow at bodice. Attached self-fabric belt. Zig-zag treatment above a swishy, below-knee skirt. Unless you're extremely daring, you'll want to wear a full slip or similar (not included). Tiny satin lingerie stays (with those marvelous antique snaps) at the shoulders will hold any straps in place for you. No closure. Slips over your head. This dress, nearly 90 years old, is in truly remarkable condition. We cannot find any flaws. At all.
The brooch shown in the last photo is for inspiration only.
Fiber/Care: no tags, silk crepe, dry-clean
Condition: we could not find a single flaw of any kind. not so much as a pull or pinhole. sure, there's a chance we missed something. but it would be very tiny, indeed. we did tack the dickey back in place at the left shoulder, and tack the belt back to itself at the front. frankly, we'd suggest snipping these new stitches and leaving the belt in two parts, to be connected to suit you after you put the dress on. you could hold it together with a brooch, flower, or other embellishment of your choice, to match your mood and the occasion. it was difficult getting the dress on Delphine, and her arms come off. the waist is an inch bigger and the dress has more give with the belt separated.
This dress is fresh and wearable, with only the slightest hint of "dustiness" (no mildew, nothing icky). It's wearable as is, so we did not subject it to dry-cleaning chemicals unnecessarily.
(keep in mind you'll need to slip the dress over your head. the fabric is sound, but you don't want to stress it)
sleeves: 9"/22.5 (full and loose)
waist: 32"/81.25 under the belt,
31"/78.5cm with the belt tacked as is
