Hello, sailor! Here's a curve-hugging red sailor dress of smoothly knit wool. Elbow-length sleeves, lots of seams and darts to enhance your shape. Jaunty nautical collar and attached tie in creamy white and navy blue. Lined at collar only. Metal side zip. From my personal collection. Sold to me as 1940s, but I suspect it's late 50s/early 60s. Very Joan Holloway.
The color is a deep blue-red and not at all orange (see Pantone "True Red" swatch). Thanks to Nation of Vintage for permission to reuse some of their images.
Label: none - has lots of hand stitching
Fiber/Care: no tags, wool double-knit, dry-cleaning recommended
Condition: this dress originally had an oddly confining and heat-trapping lining, which we removed, leaving it far more comfortable (wear a slip). there are a few minor, scattered moth nibbles and teensy spots, none of which show (no holes).
*We've had this wiggle dress professionally dry-cleaned and it's ready to wear.*
Garment Measurements:
(The fabric has some give. The dress fits me (but just) and I measure b: 35.5", w: 26.5", h: 36.5. It is not clipped to Delphine, who measures b: 32", w: 24", h: 35.25".
