From the late 50s of early 60s, a light-blue and white, awning-striped shirtwaist dress in crisp, smooth cotton. Short, cuffed sleeves. Small notched collar. Sharp little pleats below the nipped waist open to a full skirt to wear with or without a crinoline (not included). Closes at front with three covered buttons and two snaps at the waist. The back has a slimming chevron design, and an invisible, integrated belt loop (no belt included). Unlined, with pinked seams and a deep hem. From the "Merritt(2)" estate.
Labels: Mister G of Dallas
Content/Care: 100% combed cotton (and not just any variety, either, it's "Super Suttamaic Wash 'N Wear Spin Dry Super Wampoise by Wamsutta!), what that means is it's smooth and silky, washable, and comes out nearly wrinkle-free
Condition: a few minor glitches make this one a bargain. the composite photo shows the scattered spots and marks, but the one near Delphine's hand is far less obvious in person than it appears in the photo and we suspect that it will lift entirely with careful, targeted treatment. the smaller, darker spots are likely permanent. we've replaced a missing snap at the waist and used a vintage form and a bit of snipped fabric from the interior to replace a missing button. the hem was taken up an inch or so at some point. original belt is missing and ours are not included.
sleeves (cuffed): 11.5"/29cm

easily move the snaps for another 2"/5cm, to 28"/71cm
length on front: 45"/114cm + 3"/7.5cm hem
hem sweep: 104"/264cm
