Label: White Stag
White Stag began in 1929 as an offshoot of the Portland, Oregon-based Hirsch-Weiss Manufacturing Company, making clothes for the new sport of downhill skiing. When the sport and the company took off, "Hirsch" (deer) and "Weiss" (White), were anglicized to become White Stag. The company expanded into sports and casual wear. Warner Brothers purchased the company in 1966, and after returning from bankruptcy, sold the White Stag name to Wal-Mart, where it remains a house brand.
