From the 1950s, this gorgeous, incredibly soft confection of a dress appears to have started out as a ball gown. The bodice was taken in at either side (we've let it back out) and the skirt significantly shortened. Ironically, it's now perfectly in style for a modern young lady.
Composed of two layers of silk tulle ruffles over a silky lining, with ribbon straps. Closes at back with tiny metal zipper plus hook&eye. Not only is it the most luscious shade of mauve, between lavender and pink, it's wonderfully soft. From the Narissa W. estate.
Labels: none - home sewn and home altered
Fiber/Care: all silk, including the tulle, lining, and ribbons - dry-cleaning recommended
Condition: we've let out the bodice to its original size. dress is sound and wearable, but a bit rough around the edges and priced accordingly. discoloration here and there, a (very) few scattered holes, and "not the world's best" sewing job overall. it's still lovely and would make a wonderful base for a costume.
*We've had this party dress professionally dry-cleaned and it's ready to wear.*
