Sacony began making beachwear in 1938, and stylish, easy-care suits and dresses for women and children in 1941.
The label was marketed to active women who liked to travel. The stylish clothing made of Ciella jersey fabric packed small without wrinkling and could be "hand washed and hung to dry like stockings."
The "Waistbander" elasticized waist was was so unusual at the time, it provided a unique selling point, able to create a whittled waist in comfort.
Fiber/Care: no tags, but we know it's Ciella acetate jersey / hand wash or machine wash on gentle in a net bag, hang or lay flat to dry
Condition: a few teensy dings, including very small repairs at exterior bodice and shoulder on buttoned side, and interior underarm (see photos). remnants of thread loops indicate it originally had a belt (any shown in photos are ours, modern, and not included)
*This 1950s dress is freshly cleaned and ready to wear.*
