From the 1970s, a sleek, one-shoulder, seamless maxi dress with matching capelet.
- Dress closes at the built-in shelf bra with hooks and eyes, and at side with zipper and hook&eye
Capelet closes with three hooks and thread loops, and can be worn as shown, or with the closure at the front
- Fabric has lots of stretch and give
Note that the color was tough to capture correctly, and photos always look a bit different on every screen, regardless. The dress is a deep, bright, bluish green. It is not turquoise or teal. It isn't kelly or emerald, either. Pantone 334 C comes closest, but the dress is brighter and has a very slight shimmer.
Labels: Ayres Unlimited (manufacturer), B. Altman & Co. (one of my favorite department stores)
Fiber/Care: no tags, but it's a silky polyester double-knit with two-way stretch. Recommend gentle wash, hang or flat dry. Can dry-clean, if desired.
Condition: the capelet has two very small spots, as shown circled in red in photo
*This disco maxi dress and capelet set is clean and ready to wear.*
(labeled a vintage size 14, which I'd guesstimate is about a 6/8 today, but please go by the following measurements, your figure, and how you prefer your clothes to fit, because "tag sizes" are unreliable. As mentioned, there's stretch!)
at approximate natural waist: 34"/86.25cm
at approximate hip: 40"/101.5cm
length from top of shoulder to hem: 54.5"/138.25cm + 2"/5cm hem allowance
