Antique Sun Bonnet in Light Blue Organdy
An antique sun bonnet in light blue organdy.
- This charming, wearable piece is made of delicious, crisp organdy in light blue with darker blue stitching.
- The back is actually two layers, a smooth interior and the additional poof.
- The asymmetrical ties allow you to create a balanced bow if you tie them to the side. Back bavolet ruffle covers the hair.
- Age cannot be determined with certainty, but we know the last owner personally, when she acquired the bonnet, and believe it to be from the early 1900s.
Labels: none - home sewn
Fiber/Care: probably cotton, possibly silk (we are not burning it to find out)
Condition: strong and wearable, and so pretty, with minor age-related color shift and some tiny and diffuse spots (these might lift with targeted treatment, but we were wary of trying to hard, in case it's silk)
Measurements:
The hat should fit most adult heads, as the interior portion sits at the back of the crown and the upper part of the back of the head, and the ties hold it in place.
The brim is 6.5"/16.5cm at its widest.
The ties are 17"/43cm and 25"/63.5cm long (which makes the bow come out even when tied at the side).
